Flemington, NJ, December 3, 2008 – A new national study among 215 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that the majority of Democrats (60%) indicated that the Bush administration is to blame for the current financial crisis in the U.S., while Republicans and Independents cited U.S. businesses and Congress.
The study was conducted by HCD Research during December 2-3 to obtain Americans’ perceptions of President George Bush’s interview with Charlie Gibson on ABC, which aired on December 1.
After watching segments from the interview, respondents were asked to rate President Bush on likeability, believability and sincerity. Democrats gave the president low ratings on likeability and believability, and slightly higher ratings on sincerity. Republicans rated him high on likeability, believability and sincerity, while Independents gave him mid-range scores for all three attributes.
Among the findings:
Please indicate who you feel is mostly to blame for the current U.S. financial crisis.
